Gut Health & Personal Power

If you follow us on Facebook, you know that last month was ALL about your gut, and for many good reasons:

  • When we talked about pain and Inflammation in June, many roads led back to the gut.

  • Your gut is directly linked to your emotions and mental state.

  • It's more than just gastrointestinal upset, it's your blood sugar, skin problems Autoimmune Disease, cancer, hormones, neurotransmitters, mood -- it literally affects EVERYthing.

  • The subtle energy system located here (solar plexus chakra) is related to our self-esteem, confidence and personal power.

Here are 5 key highlights and a link to the associated videos to learn more:

  1. What you put in your mouth matters. Processed foods, sugar, even medication, anything hard for your body to digest is going to be taxing on your gut. Cleaning up your diet one step at a time will go a long way in healing. Every person is unique; find what foods are good (and not so good) for YOU. Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Chrysanthi Kazantzis discusses nutrition and supplements. Holistic Health Coach, Christine Camara, teaches us about Leaky Gut Syndrome.

  2. Digestive enzymes, probiotics and other supplements can likely help you. These help break down food in our gut to make it pass through our system with ease. We don't get nearly enough in our diet, especially if you have chronic issues.  Physician's Assistant, Jamie Oakley discusses natural ways to help heal our gut with essential oils and natural supplements.

  3. Manage your stress. The gut-brain axis (GBA) connects the central and the enteric nervous system, linking emotional and cognitive centers of the brain with peripheral intestinal functions. Tai Chi and Qigong master, Joseph D'Arezzo teaches us about how mindful movement and breath support relaxation and digestive health.

  4. Listen to your body! Read all the tips and learn from all the experts you want, but all the answers are already within you. Learning to slow down and listen to your body will amplify your healing potential.  Holistic Nutritionist and Intuitive Eating Counselor, Kris Dovbniak talks about her healing journey and how intuitive eating plays a role in healing your gut.  Body wisdom expert, Lisa Medley guides us through a practice to connect with this source of wisdom.

  5. Honor yourself. This might not seem related to your physical health, but remember, you = mind + body + spirit. See affirmations below. Spiritual Life Coach, Tyrone Jackson ties our gut health to our subtle energy systems, specifically Manipura, the solar plexus chakra. 

Shift Your Mindset

Affirmations are a powerful tool in shifting your perspective, resulting in a positive shift in your energy. Here are some examples of affirmations that can help you regain your personal power on your healing journey:

  • I choose to treat myself with honor and respect.

  • I trust the guidance I get from my higher self.

  • I'm releasing the trauma within my solar plexus chakra.

  • I feel great passion for life.

  • I release judgment of myself.

  • I'm becoming more and more in touch with my personal power.

  • I'm accepting every experience as a chance to learn and grow.

  • I always have a strong sense of purpose in my life.

  • I am driven.

  • I am confident.

When it comes to healing your gut, it's going to take multiple interventions and time -- in fact, the more damage and inflammation, the more time will be necessary to heal, so be patient! There are many experts and resources out there to help you along in your journey, but it's important for you to be your own health advocate!
