I never thought I'd be writing a blog, but here we are! I've gotten such a positive response from my weekly newsletters that support healthy, happy living through physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness that I've decided to offer that information here as well. Every month we dive deep into a topic to gain new knowledge and insight, learn tools to practice, and we integrate this into our Raise Your Vibration community.
This month, we’re covering a dimension of wellness that doesn’t always get as much publicity as diet and exercise might: Spiritual Wellness.
What is it exactly? Spirituality is a broad concept with room for many perspectives. Generally speaking, it includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, and it typically involves a search for meaning in life.Â
For some people this is in the form of religion, for others it is a personal relationship with Source/God/Divine/whatever you call it, or it might be a connection to nature or art. Like your sense of purpose, your personal definition of spirituality may change throughout your life, adapting to your own experiences and relationships.
What does the research say? Harold Koenig published a review in the International Scholarly Research Network of Psychiatry of (literally) thousands of research articles on how spirituality affects many aspects of mental and physical health. His analyses showed support that spirituality was positively associated with:Â
Coping with adversity
Positive emotions
Well-being/happinessÂ
Hope
Optimism
Sense of meaning and purpose
Self-esteem
Sense of control
Positive character traits (such as volunteering)
Social support
Reduced anxiety and depression, and substance abuse
We are going to be exploring many topics around spiritual wellness as well as give you tools to enhance this dimension of wellness in our Raise Your Vibration group, weekly classes, and monthly High Vibration Workshop: Embracing Spiritual Wellness (this month featuring Lisa Medley!)
Register for a Virtual Class this week to either begin or enhance your spiritual journey. This week we will be focusing on opening the crown chakra as an energetic technique for developing this connection.Â
